Payment
Payment is due at the time of purchase. We accept all major credit cards as well as Paypal. Items will not be shipped until payments have been processed and deposited within the Summer Market shop account. We will consider other payment options for special orders requiring more involved or complex purchases.
The Summer Market does not charge state or local sales taxes; however, due to the importation of these goods, you may incur an import tax at the time of delivery. Please read our shipping policy to find out more. Generally, most items will not be assessed any import tax since they are second hand or fall within a category for free trade.
Sales cancellations must be made before the item ships. If at any time you think you’ve made a mistake or would like to request a refund, you must send Summer Design Company an email requesting cancellation within 3 working days of your order.
Shipping & Delivery Methods
All in-stock items ship within 2-5 business days of payment; however, delivery times may vary due to carrier and in-country customs processing. In the event of a delay, we will notify you by email. Orders will not ship until payment has cleared through Paypal. Once your order has been dropped off with the courier, you will be notified by email along with all shipment details. Shipping rates will vary depending upon your purchase{s} and method of shipment. The Summer Market strives to reduce shipping costs incurred by customers to the maximum extent possible by combining purchases into one shipment, when possible. At the time of checkout, your shopping cart’s shipping charges will be calculated based upon its total weight and current courier rates. You will be responsible for paying your local post office any duties or fees assessed by the CBP at the time of pick-up.
Customs, Duties, & Importation
The Summer Market is not responsible for any customs duties, tariffs, or processing fees assessed by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection {CBP} Agency or United States Postal Service upon importation. The buyer assumes all responsibilities of importation upon purchase of item{s} from The Summer Market. Once the item is shipped, the item will be processed by CBP and assessed a duty {generally between 1% – 5%} based on the item’s tariff code, sale price listed on the invoice and the value listed on the customs declaration. Many of our items are duty free and will bear no additional tax or processing fees; however, some are not and will be subject to a small import tax based on the sale price. Think of it like a small sales tax. As items are evaluated differently in each port of entry and differently each time an item enters a foreign country, we can make no universal, binding, or consistent claim on duty rates for any of our items. Duties on packages not paid by the importer {or buyer} may result in a non-delivery of the package. The Summer Market will not be held responsible for any refused goods or refusal of duty payment and therefore will not refund your purchase in the event your goods are not cleared and delivered or picked-up by you. However, we will do our best to ensure you have the information required before you make a purchase and the knowledge at hand to make sure you receive it.

Order Status & Tracking
Once your order is shipped, a tracking number will be assigned to your package and you will receive an email notification that your package has been sent. The email will include the tracking number for reference. Please note that if you ordered several items that will be shipped in multiple packages, tracking numbers will be assigned to each individual shipment and you will receive notice and tracking numbers as each package is sent. The tracking number{s} will also be available from your online account. You can view your Order History which will include the track number{s} for your order.
Liability & Transport Insurance
While we do our best to ensure your items arrive in a timely manner and in perfect condition, there are some things that are beyond our control. Therefore, all shipments include liability and transport insurance. If an item is damaged in transit, the shipping company is liable for loss or damage up to € 500 depending on product and destination. Those items shipped by DHL Express shall be insured for the package’s declared customs value. Design Eur Life is not responsible for damaged, broken, or lost items. The customer will be required to file a claim with their local postal carrier. The Summer Market will assist with this process to the maximum extent possible.
Refunds and Exchanges
We truly appreciate and value your business and hope that you will come back to us again and again for all of your home decor and design needs. All purchases are yours to keep and treasure, and due to high shipping costs and sometimes lengthy shipping times experienced when exporting items overseas, all sales are final. We attempt to describe all pieces as accurately as possible, listing approximate measurements and pointing out any “flaws” or “damages” that we think may affect your decision to purchase an item from our shop. Many of our antique and vintage items have worn gracefully with age, some more than others, and sometimes possess nicks, scratches, and other imperfections that can come naturally from the passing of time; but these seeming imperfections make them truly unique and distinct. We rarely sell “perfect” antiques or mint condition, vintage items; however, we do strive to provide you with detailed photos and descriptions of our products so that you can make an informed decision when shopping. Therefore, you agree to accept the condition of all received items on an “as is” basis without attempting a return of item{s} or requesting “chargebacks” by your credit card company or bank to Summer Design Company. Most importantly, we want you to be satisfied and happy with all purchases made at The Summer Market, thus we will only offer those items we believe to be of the highest vintage quality.
