Falling For Osaka
Ryan and I love traveling to Osaka… it’s definitely one of our favorite Japanese destinations, if not the favorite!
Osaka was actually the first place we visited after moving to Japan, and whether it was the jet-lag or the culture shock, we didn’t find Osaka to be as great as we had always heard. But since arriving in Japan a year ago, we have been to Osaka a half a dozen times and have managed to discover something new with each visit.
The Osaka Castle, arguably one of the top things to see in Osaka, hasn’t been on our itinerary until this Fall. The castle grounds are known to be one of the best places in the area to view the colorful fall foliage, and we were on the hunt for some Japanese Maple and golden Ginko trees!
The castle was built on top of a tall stone foundation with a moat and gorgeous gardens surrounding it. Walk through the castle gardens, take a boat ride along the moat beneath the castle, and enjoy lunch and an ice cream cone at one of the many food vendors inside the castle grounds. As dusk approached, migrate to the stone walls along the perimeter of the castle grounds to watch the sun set behind the stunning Osaka cityscape!
The more time we spend in Osaka, the more fascinated we become with the city. It’s exotic, exciting, and glamorous, and we have definitely fallen for Osaka!
