Kaiyukan Aquarium
Kaiyukan, located in Osaka, Japan, is one of the largest aquariums in the world and is renowned for its unique layout. Upon entering, guests walk down a spiral ramp from the 8th floor all the way to the ground floor, finding themselves in the middle of the deep blue, discovering marine life from a whole new perspective.
At Kaiyukan, there are over 15 large tanks, each modeled after a specific region of the Pacific, including a tank that contains 5,400 tons of water which houses a number of whale sharks. While visiting the Osaka Aquarium, you will encounter hundreds of different species of sea life including sea turtles, dolphins, sting rays, whale sharks, otters, sea lions, penguins, jellyfish, etc. There are also a few interactive areas throughout the aquarium, like an open-air penguin exhibit, an arctic zone, and a shark and ray touch pool.
Visiting the Osaka Aquarium and surrounding area is a full day adventure. After you tour the aquarium, shop at the mall next door, see amazing city views on the giant ferris wheel, or board the ferry to Universal Studios!
