Introducing The Summer Market

The five years I spent living in Europe were some of the best years of my life… I explored beautiful towns, sampled delicious food & wine, and participated in the exciting seasonal events taking place all throughout the year {Christmas markets, wine hikes, and Oktoberfest… naturally, some memories more clouded than others}. Shortly after moving to Germany in 2011, I began writing about my travels and sharing my experiences on my blog, Design Eur Life.

Needing to fill my new German home with nice furniture and decor on a tight budget, I spent my weekends traveling to the many flea markets taking place throughout Europe and quickly realized I had a passion for second hand shopping. After being approached by other expats wanting to know how to get their hands on beautiful and unique vintage finds, I began sharing my shopping experiences and market knowledge on the blog, and decided to open a boutique selling vintage home decor & accessories purchased at some of my favorite European flea markets.

Flash forward to 2015 when my husband and I got word that we would be moving to Japan… I was beyond excited to explore yet another part of the world, but I knew it would be difficult to leave Germany, where I had spent so many years exploring amazing markets and growing a business selling European antiques. Regrettably, I was forced to close my boutique… until now!

Since moving to Japan a year ago, I have had an amazing time exploring the asian flea markets, and much like my previous blog, I want to share what I have found with you! Over the past few months, I have been busy creating a new and improved shop selling antiques and vintage finds from both Europe AND Asia!

· European Favorites ·

Of course, you’ll still be able to shop all of my favorite antiques and vintage finds from the European markets. Not only will The Summer Market include items from the old Design Eur Life Boutique, but there have been a lot of new European flea market finds added as well! Vintage luggage, ornate mirrors, French linens, light fixtures, antique books, and vintage school maps are just a few examples of things you will find in the new shop!

Over the past year, I’ve been collecting vintage decor from all over Asia. In addition to all of the European goodies, you will be able to shop these Asian antiques in The Summer Market as well! Thai statues, Japanese pottery, vintage baskets, unique wall art, oversized floor pillows, Japanese kimonos, Batik painted sarongs, and other accessories collected during our travels are just a few things you will find in The Summer Market!

With plans for future shopping trips already in the works, The Summer Market will continue to stay stocked with flea market treasures from both Europe and Asia! Inventory will continue to change, but if you see something you like that has already been sold, feel free to let me know so that I can be on the lookout for similar pieces!

I am still in the process of adding lots of inventory to the shop, but will be opening The Summer Market in time for the holidays…
I hope you are as excited as I am!
