Colmar Marché de Noël
It’s that time of year… Christmas market season!
Every year, my family and I look forward to the holidays… there’s just something magical about wearing comfy pjs, decorating the house with twinkling lights, drinking homemade hot coco while watching our favorite Christmas movies. But our favorite thing to do during the holidays is visit the amazing Christmas markets taking place all over Europe.
Christmas markets usually begin the weekend after Thanksgiving, so this year we piled in the car and headed east, to a small Alsatian town along the wine route known as Colmar, France.
Christmas markets all over Europe are stunning, but the French really go all out! Christmas traditions come alive as half-timbered houses are illuminated with colorful lights and winter decorations hung from buildings. We walked along the old, cobblestone streets, vin chad in hand, admiring all of the Christmas decorations. There are six markets spread throughout the city of Colmar, all with their own theme. Its a lot of fun to peruse the different huts selling handmade goods, decorations, and delicious holiday treats and purchase gifts for family and friends.
Rated one of the best Christmas markets in Europe, Colmar’s Marchés de Noël is not to be missed!
If you are interested in visiting a Christmas Market during the holidays, I definitely recommend stopping in Colmar and the nearby city of Strasbourg. Both towns host over-the-top gorgeous markets that is guaranteed to get you in the holiday spirit!
Joyeux Noël!
